New LibreOffice fixes 90 bugs and is more Office compatible

As we discussed earlier, LibreOffice is the main alternative to Microsoft Office. This suite is completely free and open source and allows us to have at our disposal alternatives to the main Office applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The Document Foundation, the organization behind the development of this suite, is constantly working to debug its suite, add new features, and make it increasingly compatible with documents created in Office.

The new LibreOffice 6.4.2 is not exactly an update full of changes and news from all sides

The Document Foundation has been working on the development of its next major update, LibreOffice 7.0 , for some time, of which we can learn about its first news from the following link . However, as this new version takes shape, developers continue to debug the current version 6.4, correcting bugs and improving various aspects of this free office suite.

A few hours ago, its developers released a new version of this suite, LibreOffice 6.4.2 . This version is focused on solving various errors detected by programmers and users. In addition, it also improves support for Office documents. In this way, The Document Foundation wants to achieve perfect compatibility, one of the most criticized aspects of this suite.

What’s New in LibreOffice 6.4.2

The new LibreOffice 6.4.2 is not exactly an update full of changes and news from all sides. This new version focuses, as we have explained, on maintaining the suite, correcting errors and making changes under the hood.

Throughout its two Release Candidate versions, the new LibreOffice 6.4.2 has fixed a total of 91 errors detected throughout the suite. These failures were of all kinds, from annoying failures when performing certain actions to errors that blocked the suite, and even forced applications to close.

Also, this new version of LibreOffice has further improved compatibility with documents created with Office. Both Word documents and Excel spreadsheets now open much better with this version of the office suite. After many years of waiting, LibreOffice is gradually managing to offer users perfect compatibility with documents. In this way, it is becoming the perfect Office alternative that users need.

Download or update LibreOffice

This new version of LibreOffice is now available for free for all users. To download it, we only have to access the this link and choose the download method, either by direct download or through the torrent network.

In addition, users who already have a previous version of this suite installed will be able to update directly via OTA to this new version. Although this will not arrive for a few days, so we will still have to wait a bit to be able to do it.

LibreOffice branch 6.4 is still under development. Before being able to update to version 7.0 of this suite, it is expected to see at least two or three more updates. And these will be focused on debugging and error correction. Additionally, The Document Foundation recommends users (especially businesses) who need a more stable suite to install version 6.3.5. This does not bring as many experiments as version 6.4 and has been on the market long enough to be stable enough.
